Bonnie first came to the Willamette Valley Cancer Foundation in May 2024 with her husband Robert. Robert had been battling cancer since March and they were having a hard time making ends meet. For one whole month, they got help with rent, gas, and groceries. We also helped Bonnie navigate Paid Leave Oregon so she could remain Robert’s full-time caretaker. Then, Robert died.

Almost one year to the day Robert was diagnosed, Bonnie was told she had pancreatic cancer. Unable to work, she turned to the Cancer Foundation for the second time. This time for herself. Once again, assistance was available for rent, gas, and groceries. By the end of the year, however, Bonnie will most likely be in assisted living where she will spend her final days.
